THE PLACE
“In this place I will give Peace” – (Haggai 2: 9b) was the promise given to the Sterretts as they settled in Highfield , Kotagiri. God has fulfilled this promise in the lives of many who visited it. Dr. Norton Sterrett and his wife Eloise (IVCF staff, from USA), the first staff workers of UESI sold their inherited property in Canada and bought Highfield in late 50s. For many years UESI made use of this property for various programmes.
Highfield is a treasure, which the Sterretts gifted to UESI in 1964. The very name HIGHFIELD evokes exhilaration and thanks in many a heart. This sanctuary high up in the Nilgiri Hills, 6,500 feet MSL, has been a haven of spiritual rejuvenation and healing for many. For 50 years, hundreds of students, staffworkers and graduates were trained in life of faith, servant-hood and discipleship and sent to different places. Many still cherish the sweet memories of Highfield.
MILESTONES
- Meeting cum dining Hall, kitchen, Doulos Qtrs., and library blocks were added in the 70s.
- Purchased three cents of land in the valley, 1km from Highfield, for a ring well in 1989 and completed Water Project in 1990.
- Sterrett Block (5 family suites) in 1994.
- High field Road Project in 2001
- Fencing Project in November 2004
- Golden Jubilee Block in 2007
- New Library cum Seminar block in 2013.

HIGHFIELD A HAPPENING PLACE
Initially, High field was used for month-long Study Centre and, later, 100s of UESI camps & retreats were held here. Now CMTC, Staff training, Bible Study Centre, Writer’s Workshop, NEGF Programmes and other camps are conducted here. Graduates, newly weds and families, pastors and missionaries from different parts of country use this place for relaxation and renewal. The existing facilities are too limited for us to fulfil the vision of the Sterretts.
